Adverbs

Adverbs are words that describe or modify verbs.
They describe how, when and where an action happens. Read the examples below:

Nirmala spoke to her teacher quietly. The adverb quietly describes how(Manner) Nirmala spoke to her teacher.

Shanthi usually eats string hopper for breakfast. The adverb usually describes when(Time) Shanthi eats string hopper.

The dog ran outside. The adverb outside describes where(Place) the dog ran.

Read each word. Decide if it is a noun, a verb, an adjective, or an adverb. If it is a noun, color it blue. If it is a verb, color it red. If it is an adjective,color it yellow. If it is an adverb, color it green.

To make adverbs we often add –ly at the end of an adjective (words that describe a noun)
