Active, Passive Voice

Active and passive sentences usually have the same meaning but the focus is different. In active sentences,
the thing doing the action is the subject of the sentence and the thing receiving the action is the object. Most sentences are active.

Active Voice

Sarmila         cleaned        the kitchen.
SUBJECT       ACTION        OBJECT

சர்மிலா சமையலறை சுத்தம் செய்தாள்.இங்கு குறித்த விடயத்தினை செய்பவர்(doer)வாக்கியத்தின் எழுவாயாக வருகின்றார்.

In passive sentences, the thing receiving the action is the subject of the sentence. We use a passive verb to say what happens to the subject. செயப்பாட்டு வினையினை(Passive voice) பொறுத்தவரை செயலுக்கு ஆட்படும் அம்சமானது எழுவாயாக வருவதோடு செயலினை செய்பவர் வசனத்தின் இறுதியில் வருவார்.

Passive Voice

SUBJECT       ACTION        OBJECT

சமையலறை சர்மிலாவினால் சுத்தம் செய்யப்பட்டது.

Stative verbs are verbs that show a state, quality or description of the subject.

Eg: be, feel, see, have, like, belong, need, love, like, think, believe, want, understand etc....

Intransitive and stative verbs cannot be used in the passive forms.

Passive sentence இல் by உடன் சேர்ந்து குறித்த செயலினை செய்பவர் (doer) வசனத்தின் இறுதியில் வருவார் ஆனால் குறித்த செயலினை செய்தவர் முக்கியமல்லாதவராக அல்லது அறியப்படாதவராக இருந்தால் doer தவிர்க்கப்படலாம்.

The  person  who  makes  the  action  is  introduced  by  the  preposition  “by”  in  the  . But in some cases the subject of the passive sentence is omitted, this happens when, who or what causes the action is unknown or unimportant.
